UAE End of Service Calc

What Happens to Your Gratuity If You Resign Before 1 Year?

In a standard UAE private sector gratuity estimate, service of less than one complete year usually means there is no end-of-service gratuity entitlement. That does not mean the employee has no final settlement at all. Salary already earned, unused leave, notice period obligations, expenses, commissions, or contractual benefits may still need to be reviewed separately.

The exact outcome depends on the contract, probation status, free-zone rules, employer policies, and the documents signed when employment ends. If you resign before one year, ask the employer for a written settlement showing the dates used, salary paid through the final day, leave balance, deductions, and any repayment clauses. Do not rely only on a verbal explanation if money is being deducted.

Employees should also check whether the employer has included all earned wages and whether notice period terms were followed. A gratuity calculator can show why the gratuity line may be zero, but it cannot confirm every other final settlement item. For disputed deductions, unpaid wages, or pressure to sign, seek official guidance before accepting the final amount.
